GODERICH MANUFACTURING PLANT - EXISTING VACANCY

Job Summary

The welder, will primarily be responsible for MIG (GMAW) welding final assemblies using production fixtures/jigs in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

At this time, Calhoun Super Structures does not use robotic welding techniques. Candidates must be able to perform traditional MIG welding and demonstrate competency passing an in-house weld test and CWB weld test to maintain 47.1 certification.

Job Duties

  • Capable of setting up workstations complete with associated tools.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints.
  • Weld parts to specified dimensions and Calhoun quality standards.
  • Ensure that all welds are complete and of good quality.
  • Able to pass and maintain CWB 47.1 certification.
  • Ensure proper care of welding equipment and supplies.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in skills (ability to work on various projects, materials and equipment within the shop)
  • Assist or mentor other welders when needed.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective and courteous manner with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Energetic individuals, able to work in fast paced environment with high productivity.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with GMAW (MIG) welding in a production environment.
  • Previous structural welding experience is an asset.
  • Transferable CWB certification (47.1) is an asset.
  • Experience using overhead cranes an asset.
  • Able to read tape measure is a must (using imperial)
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekend

Work Conditions

  • Standing for up to 10 hours per day
  • Frequent movement (lifting (up to 60lbs), carrying, bending, turning and pulling)
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per company standards (safety glasses, gloves and steel-toed CSA certified boot

Hours of Work

  • Weekdays (4 shifts – 6:00am – 4:30pm). Subject to change based on business needs.
  • Willingness to work extended hours of work as necessary to ensure deadlines and priorities are met, including overtime and weekends.
