Job summary

Midwest Structural Ltd is seeking a skilled Structural Welder to join our manufacturing team in Edmonton. You will weld, assemble, and fabricate structural steel components for large-scale construction projects, ensuring weld quality and safety compliance on fast-paced projects.

This paid role requires experience with MIG and TIG welding, blueprints, and rigging. Expect to work with plasma cutting, press braking, and various fabrication tools in a hands-on environment with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in structural welding using MIG and TIG techniques.
  • Strong ability to read blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with rigging, crane operations, machining, and general fabrication tools.
  • Proficient in plasma cutting and using calipers for precise measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings to guide welding tasks.
  • Perform structural welding using MIG/TIG to join steel components securely.
  • Use hand and power tools, plasma cutters, and press brake machines for fabrication.
  • Conduct rigging and mechanical tasks for lifting and positioning heavy steel parts with cranes or forklifts.
  • Inspect welds for quality and compliance with specs using calipers and measurement tools.
  • Follow safety procedures and use PPE, maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and project timelines.

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Welder to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for welding, assembling, and fabricating structural steel components used in large-scale construction projects. Your expertise will ensure that all welds meet strict quality standards while adhering to safety protocols. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute welding tasks.
  • Perform structural welding using MIG (Metal Inert Gas) ) techniques to join steel components securely.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape and prepare materials.
  • Conduct rigging and mechanical tasks related to lifting and positioning heavy steel parts with cranes or forklifts.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and compliance with engineering specifications using calipers and other measuring tools.
  • Follow safety procedures rigorously, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members during assembly processes, ensuring efficient workflow and project timelines.
Skills
  • Extensive experience in structural welding with proficiency in MIG and TIG welding processes.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings essential for precise fabrication.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to rigging, crane operation, machining, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to perform plasma cutting, operate press brake machines, and utilize calipers for measurements.
  • Construction experience involving ductwork or steel assembly is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with schematics, basic math skills for measurements and calculations, and welding certifications preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions safely.
