Job summary

Egis in Ottawa, Ontario seeks a Structural Team Lead to guide a team of structural engineers and BIM technologists on buildings and infrastructure projects, ensuring design quality, code compliance, schedules and budgets. You will oversee design through all phases, coordinate with clients and regulators, mentor staff, and identify opportunities for project development.

A P.Eng and 10+ years of experience are required; bilingualism is an asset.

Qualifications

• University degree in Structural Engineering.
• Ontario P.Eng. designation in good standing.
• 10+ years of structural engineering design experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with construction stakeholders.
• Knowledge of OBC, NBC, CSA standards and applicable regulations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SAFE, S-FRAME, SAP, WoodWorks, ETABS.

About the role

Egis is hiring a Structural Team Lead in Ottawa, Ontario. The role leads a team of structural engineers and BIM technologists delivering building and infrastructure projects, with responsibility for technical direction, project oversight, design quality, regulatory compliance, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design and oversee project delivery through design, tender, construction, and closeout.
• Manage team resources, schedules, budgets, and engineering deliverables.
• Prepare, review, and seal structural designs and related submissions in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, technical submissions, permit documents, tender documents, and reports.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, government agencies, and regulatory authorities.
• Provide construction review, design reviews, peer reviews, and quality assurance.
• Mentor and support the professional development of engineers.
• Identify business development opportunities and support client relationships.

Requirements

• University degree in Structural Engineering.
• Ontario P.Eng. designation in good standing.
• At least 10 years of structural engineering design experience, including medium to complex building or infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with construction stakeholders.
• Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code of Canada, CSA standards, and applicable regulations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SAFE, S-FRAME, SAP, WoodWorks, and ETABS.
• Valid driver's licence and access to a registered and insured vehicle.
