Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Building Structural Designer for our Longueuil-based Structural team. You will contribute to a range of building structural projects, including assessments, diagnostics, rehabilitation, and asset management for existing structures, across institutional, commercial, residential, cultural, and office sectors.

You will report to the Director, Structural, and work with clients and stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of projects while developing your expertise

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in structures or strong interest in structural engineering.
• 0 to 3 years of relevant experience; graduates and EITs encouraged to apply.
• Internship experience in building structural engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design and coordination of building structural projects.
• Perform structural analyses and contribute to plans, calculations, reports.
• Survey and inspect existing buildings for assessment and rehabilitation mandates.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Manage multiple projects and participate in site visits as required.
• Support engineers and project managers in execution of mandates.

Job description

As part of the growth of our Structural team in Longueuil, we are seeking a Building Structural Designer to contribute to the delivery of a variety of building structural projects.

Reporting to Yvonick Houde, Director, Structural, you will participate in building assessments, diagnostics, structural investigations, rehabilitation, and asset management assignments for existing buildings. You will also contribute to design projects in the institutional, commercial, residential, cultural, and office sectors.

Main Responsibilities

• Participate in the design and coordination of building structural projects.
• Perform structural analyses and contribute to the preparation of plans, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
• Conduct surveys and inspections of existing buildings as part of assessment, rehabilitation, and asset management mandates.
• Collaborate with clients and various stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and participate in site visits as required.
• Support engineers and project managers in the execution of project mandates.

Job Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in structures or a strong interest in structural engineering.

Experience

• 0 to 3 years of relevant experience.
• Recent graduates and Engineers-in-Training (EITs) are encouraged to apply.
• Internship experience in building structural engineering is considered an asset.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of structural design principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Knowledge of SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, or similar software is considered an asset.
