Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Winnipeg is seeking a Structural Engineer – Buildings to support water and wastewater projects. The role combines office design work with site travel to review construction progress and ensure quality and compliance.

You will prepare designs from concept to construction, coordinate calculations and drawings, and apply building codes. A Civil/Structural degree, 2+ years’ experience, EGM registration, and driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized University is required.
• Minimum 2 years experience and should be registered in EGM.
• Post-graduation experience in a structural design is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate structural engineering designs from conceptual design, through tender into construction.
• Prepare/oversee design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures.
• Ensure Stantec’s QA/QC procedures are followed during project planning and execution.
• Assist in the coordination of project design activities and the preparation of engineering work.
• Travel to site to review construction progress and report on findings.
• Develop and maintain a network of clients, both internal and external to Stantec.
• Work with the Buildings Practice management team in developing tools and techniques for the execution of daily duties.
• Work will be highly focused on water/wastewater projects for the next year and will evolve as the business need evolves.
