Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Civil/Municipal Engineer to join the Water group in Regina, SK. The role focuses on design, project management, and coordination across multi-discipline teams within a collaborative, inclusive culture.

You will contribute to conveyance infrastructure projects across the Prairie Provinces, working on water, wastewater, stormwater and flood control systems. Applicants should have a P.Eng.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4-8 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering; P.Eng. or eligible to become registered with APEGS.
  • Experience in linear infrastructure projects in Saskatchewan including watermains, sewer, flood control.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is an asset.
  • Strong English communication; ability to work independently within project direction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design tasks including drawings, reports, specs, and quantity take-offs.
  • Develop designs through sketches and documentation across civil phases.
  • Manage project scope, budget, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Provide contract administration during construction.
  • Prepare design packages and participate in client meetings.
  • Coordinate with multi-discipline team members on projects.
  • Attend client, contractor, and regulatory meetings to understand goals.
  • Assist leadership with design management on large projects.

We are seeking a professional and dynamic Civil/Municipal Engineer to join our Water group in Regina.

Stantec’s Regina Conveyance Team collaborates on vertical and linear infrastructure projects across the Prairie Provinces, including large and small projects, for new and existing clients in the water, wastewater, stormwater, and flood control sectors. Our conveyance team is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to improve and expand this critical infrastructure, everything from forcemains and sanitary sewers to hydraulic structures, pipelines, CIPP lining, siphons, open channels, and storage. With expertise in linear infrastructure planning and design, flood control, hydraulic analysis and natural surface water systems, our team is committed to supporting projects that address the greatest infrastructure needs our communities face today.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Perform broad, varied, and diverse design tasks on assigned projects under general supervision of task lead or manager, including engineering drawings, engineering reports, technical specifications, construction quantity take-offs, and support applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.

  • Engage in the development of design through sketches, diagrams, and other visual formats, and prepare and revise documentation in various civil phases including site plans, utility plan/profiles, grading plans, cross sections, submittal reviews and response to information requests as required.

  • Develop and manage project scope including fee estimates, budget tracking, staffing and scheduling.

  • Provide contract administration services including completion of progress estimates, change orders, field instructions, requests for information, liaison between the contractor and the client, and other general project coordination during construction.

  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final design and participate in client project meetings.

  • Participate in the permit/approval process, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, and governing entities.

  • Coordinate technical activities and designs with team members on multi-discipline projects.

  • Attend and assist in client, contractor, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, site assessments, and vendor/equipment supplier contacts and coordination.

  • Assist project leadership with overall design management and coordination for large, multidisciplinary projects.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.

Capabilities and Credentials
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of related experience.

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited University, and either a registered P. Eng. or the ability to become registered with APEGS as a P.Eng.

  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience providing design services and contract administration services on linear infrastructure projects in the Province of Saskatchewan including design of new infrastructure and renewal of existing infrastructure.

  • Work experience in linear infrastructure including watermains, wastewater sewer, land drainage sewer and forcemains, lagoon design, stormwater management, earthwork and grading and flood protection.

  • Proficiency or experience in hydraulic modeling is an asset.

  • Proficiency or experience in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software is an asset.

  • Demonstrated skill with MS Office is a requirement.

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills are required, as is an ability to work independently within the bounds of direction provided by the Project Manage or Senior Engineer.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities on projects.

  • Must possess Saskatchewan driver’s license.

  • Travel may be required.

  • Willingness to work in a team environment.

  • Quick and adaptive learner.

  • Interest in developing technical and/or project management specialization in consulting environment.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field, and Licensed Professional Engineer. Minimum of 4-8 years of experience.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
