Hatch Ltd. in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) New Graduate to support the design of heavy industrial building and equipment structures and foundations. Reporting to the Structural Discipline Lead, you will contribute to projects globally from the Saskatoon office.

You will gain experience in structural analysis, software tools, codes and workflows, with mentorship and opportunities to pursue professional designation. Travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Must be graduating in 2027 or recently graduated with a Civil Engineering degree specializing in Structural Engineering.
  • Academic courses include Structural Analysis, Structural Mechanics, Reinforced Concrete Design and Structural Steel Design.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to apply engineering principles to perform calculations for structural analysis and design of industrial buildings and foundations.
  • Collaborate to share results with senior members of the discipline or other Hatch groups.
  • Prepare calculation reports to support analyses and designs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Become knowledgeable of structural software, building codes and material design codes, and discipline workflows.
  • Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed.
  • Willingness to travel and work at other Hatch offices or project sites as opportunities arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Work independentlytoapply engineering principles toperformcalculations forstructuralanalysisand designof industrialbuilding and equipment support structures and foundations
  • Workcollaboratively to share the results of yourworkwith senior members of thedisciplineand / or otherHatchgroups
  • Preparecalculation reports to support the resultsof your analysisand design,to be checked by senior colleagues and used tosupportengineeringdocumentsto beusedby internal and external stakeholders
  • Becomeknowledgeableofstructural analytical software and tools, building codes and material design codes,discipline workflows and execution, process building and equipment structureand foundationsystems, and other industrial components / processesyou are assigned toassess
  • Participate inoffice and sitesafety training andinductions as needed to supportoffice andsite activities
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices orproject work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise

Education and Experience:

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2027, or recently graduated,with aBachelor’s degreein Civil Engineeringwithspecialization in Structural Engineeringor Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
  • Preferred academic coursesincludeStructuralAnalysis, Structural Mechanics,ReinforcedConcreteDesign,Structural Steel Design, Foundation Design
  • Preferred advanced courses includeStructural Dynamics,Finite Element Analysis, Seismic Design
  • Previousrelevantcoopandsummer work terms or internships in structural engineeringis an asset
  • Academic or work experience withstructural software SAP2000 and/orSTAADPro,MathCAD, and BentleyMicroStationCAD software is an asset
