Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Vancouver is seeking a seasoned Structural Engineer to support our growing local office. You will design plans for various materials, conduct structural studies, and supervise construction activities, ensuring NBCC/BC Building Code compliance.

The role requires a P.Eng with EGBC or ability to obtain within 6 months, 5+ years of relevant experience, and strong software skills in ETABS, SAP2000 and SAFE. A hybrid work culture and client-facing responsibilities are involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• P.Eng with EGBC or ability to obtain within 6 months is required.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong experience with structural design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE).
• Ability to mentor entry-level engineers and collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

Overview

The Structural Building team is currently looking for a motivated and skilled Structural Engineer to support the growth of the local office. This position is based out of our Vancouver office working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team.

Your role

• Actively participate in the design and preparation of plans and specifications (steel, concrete, wood, masonry, etc.).
• Conduct studies, surveys, technical reports and structural inspections.
• Supervise the execution of structural work during the construction phase.
• Ensure that the engineering work is produced according to the quality standards of the industry and respect the National Building Code and British Columbia Building Code.
• Coordinate projects that impact your structural design with the other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, architecture, process, etc.).
• Maintain and develop client and stakeholder relationships.

About you

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is an asset.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with EGBC (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Minimum five (5) years of previous related experience in a similar role is preferred.
• Strong experience with structural design software (ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.).
• Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage changing priorities.
