Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Vancouver is seeking a Structural EIT to support the Transmission, Distribution & Renewables team. You will contribute to design criteria, structural layouts, and calculations for power facilities, working from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate has a Civil/Structural Engineering degree and at least 3 years of experience with Canadian/US codes, Revit, and STAAD.Pro in a collaborative, hybrid environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an EGBC recognized institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of design experience in buildings, structural steel, concrete and related works.
  • Experience with Canadian/US codes and standards in structural design for power/transmission facilities.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with design software and MS Office.
  • Fluency in English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Establish design criteria and scope per contract and interdisciplinary input.
  • Design structural works for buildings, structures, and foundations.
  • Prepare and file engineering calculations per QA procedures and approvals.
  • Prepare technical specs and supervise drawings.
  • Collaborate through project stages from conceptual design to close-out.

Reporting to the Structural Team Lead, Substation & Lines Infrastructure, we have an opportunity for a Structural EIT to supplement the team in our Vancouver office.## **Your role*** Establish design criteria and design scope for each project based on contractual requirements, interdisciplinary input, and in line with best engineering practices.* Design structural works, including buildings, structures, and foundations.* Prepare and file engineering calculations in line with the relevant quality system procedures, including following review and approval processes.* Prepare technical specifications and supervise the preparation of drawings.* Work with the project team through various project stages from conceptual design to detailed design, construction, commissioning and close-out.## **About you*** A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an EGBC recognized institution and program.* Minimum 3 years of design experience in buildings, structural steel, concrete, masonry, architectural works, and plant site civil works using Canadian and US engineering codes and standards. Experience should relate to structural design in power transmission and distribution facilities, telecom tower facilities, renewable power plants, and heavy industrial facilities.* Strong computer skills and proficiency with STAAD.Pro and MS Office. Proficiency with SAFI Telecom, PCA design programs, and Revit software is considered an asset.* Strong communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and high productivity while working in both independent and team environments. Ability to prioritize multiple multidisciplinary projects across multiple project teams is a must.* Experience in preparation of clear and comprehensive reports, technical notes, and client presentations. Fluency in both written and spoken English is a must. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
