Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Mississauga is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design and reviews for steel and concrete structures on major projects. You will perform calculations, provide construction directions, and ensure design integrity through site inspections and coordination with contractors.

A Civil Engineering degree with a Canadian PE license (Ontario preferred) and 8+ years of structural experience are required; a Master’s degree is an asset.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree is required.
• Master’s degree or higher is an asset.
• Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada (PEO).
• Ontario Professional Engineer registration preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
• Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design and reviews for design changes.
• Prepare calculations for repair and reinforcement of structural systems (steel, reinforced concrete, masonry).
• Provide technical guidance to resolve structural issues and interpret design documents.
• Liaise with contractors and stakeholders to address RFIs, NCRs, and FCRs.
• Identify structural risks and recommend corrective measures.
• Provide construction directions driven by structural design.
• Review work for accuracy and quality of design documentation.
• Attend meetings with contractors and other disciplines to address construction issues and develop solutions.
• Conduct site walkdowns and verify structural integrity during construction stages.

Overview

Your role

• Perform engineering design and reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
• Prepare engineering design calculations for repair and reinforcing of structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry, and prepare design documents.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve structural issues and interpret design documents.
• Liaise with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address RFIs, NCRs, and FCRs.
• Identify potential structural risks and recommend corrective measures.
• Provide construction directions driven by structural design.
• Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and design documentation.
• Attend meetings with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address construction issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
• Conduct regular site walkdowns and verify structural integrity during construction stages.

About you

• Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University.
• Master’s degree and above is an asset.
• Must be Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
• Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
• Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
• Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design-office and site experience.
• Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
• Thorough knowledge of use of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
• Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• This role requires consistent on-site presence and may involve supporting a shift work schedule based on operational needs.
