Job summary

Jump! recruiters client in Quebec seeks a Structural Engineer to grow in a role focused on analysis, design, and solving complex structural challenges across commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

You will work on foundation sizing, interaction with steel, concrete, and timber structures, and engage in new construction and retrofit work, including modular construction. The role offers a hybrid work model in the Sherbrooke region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in structural design.
  • Strong knowledge of structural analysis.
  • Experience designing steel, concrete, or timber structures.
  • Excellent understanding of applicable standards and building codes.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound technical judgment.
  • Comfortable working both in the office and in the field.
  • Practical mindset, autonomy, and solution-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analyses and prepare engineering calculations.
  • Design and validate the sizing of foundations and their structural connections to steel, concrete, and timber structures in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation.
  • Verify project compliance with applicable standards and building codes.
  • Participate in the analysis of building and structural behavior.
  • Contribute to the development of technical solutions for complex projects.
  • Provide technical support to clients, consultants, and business partners.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and technical validations as required.
  • Collaborate with operations, sales, production, and quality teams.
  • Mentor junior engineering professionals.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design methods and technical tools.
  • Apply your professional engineering seal when required.

Our client, a Quebec-based company recognized for its technical expertise, is seeking a Structural Engineer who is looking to grow in a role where analysis, design, and complex problem-solving are at the heart of the work.

A Broader Role Than a Traditional Structural Engineering Position

You will contribute to large-scale projects in the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. Your responsibilities will include the analysis, design, and sizing of foundation solutions, as well as the validation of their structural interaction with steel, concrete, and timber structures.

You will work on both new construction and existing buildings, including expansion projects, underpinning work, and structural reinforcement initiatives. You will also contribute to advanced structural analyses and the development of innovative solutions adapted to emerging construction methods, particularly modular construction.

This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to understand and analyze a structure as a whole rather than being limited to a single discipline.
