StrongStart Facilitator position with School District No. 51 (Boundary) based at West Boundary Elementary School / Greenwood / Beaverdell, effective September 28, 2026.

The role is four hours per day, four days per week; hours are assigned by the District Principal of Student Services or designate. Requirements include Grade 12 plus BC ECE certificate/diploma with BC license to practice, a valid Childsafe first aid certificate, and two years of recent ECE experience in a licensed childcare

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 plus a current Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate or diploma, including a Community Care Facilities BC license to practice.
  • Valid Childsafe first aid certificate.
  • Two years of recent ECE experience in licensed childcare.
  • Knowledge of BC Early Learning Framework and Indigenous Early Learning & Childcare Framework.
  • Experience creating, organizing, planning and implementing an early learning program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and lead a licensed preschool program.
  • Maintain a learning environment promoting health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Establish positive relationships with staff, families and children.
  • Support budget preparation and purchase/maintenance of supplies and materials.
  • Attend meetings and maintain childcare statistics.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow relevant policies.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain ECE Certificate to Practice.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

STRONGSTART FACILITATOR

Applications in writing will be received for a “STRONGSTART FACILITATOR” positions with School District No. 51 (Boundary), with assignment to West Boundary Elementary School / Greenwood / Beaverdell effective September 28, 2026.

The position is four (4) hours per day, four (4) days per week. You are not required to work on non-instructional days. Hours of work will be assigned by the District Principal of Student Services or designate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 plus a current Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate or diploma, including a Community Care Facilities Branch BC license to practice from the BC government's ECE Registry ;
  • Valid Childsafe first aid certificate ;
  • Two years of experience, obtained within the last three years, as an Early Childhood Educator within a licensed childcare setting (in addition to experience acquired in obtaining the ECE certificate);
  • Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and the Indigenous Early Learning and Childcare Framework;
  • Experience creating, organizing, planning and implementing an early learning program;
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team with colleagues, parents and children; and
  • Ability to effectively plan and work independently and without direct supervision.
Applicants will be expected to:
  • Plan, coordinate and lead a quality licensed preschool program.
  • Maintain a learning environment that promotes the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Establish positive working relationships with staff, community partners, families, and children.
  • Support budget preparation and purchase and maintenance of supplies and materials.
  • Attend school, district, community, regional and provincial meetings as requested.
  • Maintain daily, monthly and quarterly statistics for childcare reports including attendance, registration, and emergency cards.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information seen or heard.
  • Understand and act in accordance with relevant policies and procedures from the school, district, Ministry of Education, Child Care Licensing Regulation, and WorkSafeBC.
  • Complete ongoing professional development and maintain ECE Certificate to Practice.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement presently in effect between the Board and CUPE Local 2098.
