Job summary

School District No. 91 Nechako Lakes is seeking a Strong Start Facilitator to support family literacy and early childhood development at Mapes Elementary.

This continuing part-time position covers 21 hours per week and starts as soon as possible. The facilitator will focus on family engagement, play-based learning, and connecting parents with community resources to support children aged 0-5 and their caregivers.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate).
• Certificate in Early Childhood Education.
• Community Care Facilities Branch BC License to practice.
• Valid Child Safe First Aid Certificate.
• 6 months experience as a licensed Early Childhood Educator working with children in the 0-5 age range and their caregivers.
• WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• The Strong Start Facilitator will concentrate on key aspects of family, literacy, numeracy, parent support and education, stages of early childhood development and community resource sharing.
• Parents and caregivers will participate alongside their children in a purposeful, play based environment.
