Job summary

The Strong Start Facilitator at Mapes Elementary will focus on family literacy, numeracy, parent support and early childhood development, delivering play-based activities in collaboration with caregivers. This continuing part-time role (21 hours/week) starts as soon as possible and aims to help families engage with learning, access community resources, and support children's readiness for school.

• WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures

Education

Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate)

Certificate in Early Childhood Education

Community Care Facilities Branch BC License to practice

Valid Child Safe First Aid Certificate

6 months experience as a licensed Early Childhood Educator (0-5 age)

Summary:

• The Strong Start Facilitator will concentrate on key aspects of family, literacy, numeracy, parent support and education, stages of early childhood development and community resource sharing.
• The intention of the program is that parents and caregivers will participate alongside their children in a purposeful, play based environment.

Qualifications:

• Completion of Grade 12 (Dogwood Certificate)
• Certificate in Early Childhood Education
• Community Care Facilities Branch BC License to practice
• Valid Child Safe First Aid Certificate
• 6 months experience as a licensed Early Childhood Educator working with children in the 0-5 age range and their caregivers
• WHMIS 2015 Certificate and familiarity with WorkSafeBC safety procedures
