TAXI/VML Montreal is seeking a strategic, independent Strategy Director to help us navigate our course and ensure our work remains culturally relevant in Quebec. This is an individual contributor role based in Montreal, focusing on developing, evaluating, and advocating for strategic and creative ideas. You will stay connected with the larger VML Canada strategy team, including colleagues in Toronto and Vancouver. We seek a proactive, analytical thinker fascinated by cultural trends who can translate complex market insights into compelling strategies that inspire creative excellence. Fluency in both French and English is essential.

What You'll Be Up To
  1. Strategic Visionary: Lead the development and refinement of strategies, identifying key priorities and long-term growth opportunities aligned with market trends and cultural nuances.
  2. Cultural Trendspotter: Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and trend monitoring, focusing on cultural shifts and their impact on consumer behavior.
  3. Opportunity Finder: Identify new business opportunities, potential partnerships, market entries, and strategic initiatives relevant to cultural and creative innovation.
  4. Business Case Builder: Develop compelling business cases supporting strategic recommendations, assessing risks and rewards, and highlighting creative potential.
  5. Team Collaboration: Work closely with creative, account management, media, PR, and other teams to gather insights, align strategies, and translate ideas into actionable plans, influencing without direct authority.
  6. Strategic Planning: Contribute to annual and long-term strategic planning, bringing insights on emerging cultural trends and their implications.
  7. Insight Translator: Simplify complex data into clear insights and recommendations through engaging presentations and reports, emphasizing cultural context and creative opportunities.
  8. Performance Tracking: Define KPIs to measure the success and impact of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with business and creative goals.
  9. Industry Tracking: Stay informed on industry best practices, emerging trends, and disruptive forces, fostering innovation within the team.
What You'll Need to Bring
  1. 6+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, brand planning, or related analytical fields. Experience in creative agencies or marketing is a plus.
  2. Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken), with the ability to lead complex discussions, create presentations, and produce reports with cultural sensitivity.
  3. Proven self-starter with initiative and independence.
  4. Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop data-driven solutions.
  5. Expertise in strategic frameworks and market analysis techniques.
  6. Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex ideas persuasively to senior leaders.
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively and influence stakeholders at various levels without direct authority.
  8. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
