Job summary

Critical Mass in Calgary seeks a Strategist to join a high-growth account, partnering with creative, media and account teams to shape strategic solutions addressing client challenges during a critical growth phase.

Reporting to a senior Strategy member, you will support strategic direction across multiple business units, contribute to insights, persona development and ongoing research, and stay ahead of AI and market dynamics shaping client engagement.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Business with a marketing focus; entry-level opportunity with agency/strategy exposure considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of marketing disciplines (brand strategy, digital marketing, web/digital experience, performance marketing or marketing analytics).
  • Analytical, data-driven mindset with ability to think critically and communicate clearly.

Job description

As a Strategist at Critical Mass, you’ll be a core contributing member to a strategic, high-growth account, partnering with creative, media, and account teams to help drive innovative, high-impact work. With an understanding of marketing strategy, technology trends and the b2b customer, you'll help the team shape strategic solutions that solve our client’s biggest challenges during a critical period of growth and evolution.

Reporting directly to a senior member of the Strategy team, you’ll play a critical role supporting the strategic direction and ongoing delivery of work across multiple business units and product offerings.

You Will:
  • Support strategic work across multiple workstreams, adding strategic thinking and contributing insights, paired with a bias for action and execution
  • Identify insights based on findings from other disciplines and sources, prioritized for relevance and importance, to help uncover opportunities for the team and client
  • Support and contribute to the development of strategic inputs and assets including messaging direction, audience personas, and ongoing research that help s inform both client strategy and ongoing creative development
  • Dig into category trends, competitor messaging and activities, and evolving market dynamics to inform briefs and keep the broader team engaged and aligned
  • Identify emerging industry trends, particularly in technology and AI, with relevance to the client's brand positioning and customer engagement strategies
  • Contribute to strategic workshops and working sessions with large, cross-functional client teams and internal agency stakeholders to align on strategy and creative direction
  • Enable the success of the strategy and account teams through continuous contribution to deeper understanding of the category landscape and context
  • Collaborate across disciplines (creative, media, marketing science, research, account and project management) to ensure high-quality strategic deliverables
  • Help the team adapt quickly to shifting priorities and emerging opportunities within a fast-moving, highly competitive industry landscape
You Have:
  • A post-secondary degree in Business with a focus on Marketing. Any additional emphasis on social sciences (psychology, sociology or behavioural economics) is considered a strength. As an entry-level opportunity, prior agency or strategy work experience, or experience in B2B marketing, is an asset
  • Understanding of, or experience in, one or more marketing disciplines (brand strategy, digital marketing, web/digital experience, performance marketing or marketing analytics)
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with a data-driven approach
  • An inherent interest in consumer trends across culture, technology and media and their impact on brands
  • Curiosity about emerging technology, particularly AI, and how it intersects with marketing and brand strategy
  • A genuine commitment to continuous learning and self-development
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate and work effectively across distinct disciplines and personalities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to groups
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude balanced with a willingness to seek direction when needed
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects with tight timelines

Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager.
