Job summary

Government of Alberta, Transportation and Economic Corridors, Edmonton, seeks a Senior Policy Analyst to lead policy development and evaluation. You will provide strategic policy advice, coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives, and prepare briefing notes and Cabinet materials.

The role requires strong policy research, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills, with a focus on transportation policy and governance.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Alberta’s transportation system, transportation legislation, policy development, and government decision-making processes.
  • Experience conducting policy research, analysis, evaluation, and developing evidence-based recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills, including coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives and managing competing priorities.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement, consultation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing briefings, reports, and presentations.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, relationship-building, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (including Copilot, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and survey tools.
  • Experience with contract development and vendor management is an asset.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, analysis, and evaluation of transportation safety policies, programs, and legislation.
  • Manage complex projects and multi-stakeholder initiatives with a focus on outcomes.
  • Provide strategic policy advice and evidence-based recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Research emerging issues, assess risks and impacts, and identify opportunities for policy improvement.
  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, presentations, Cabinet materials, and other decision-support documents.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and consultation activities with industry, government, Indigenous communities, and other partners.
  • Build collaborative relationships to support policy development and program implementation.
  • Represent the ministry on committees, working groups, and cross-government initiatives.
