Job summary

Spicers-Canada is seeking a detail-oriented Purchaser in Vaughan, Ontario to join the National Procurement team. Reporting to the Director of National Inventory Management, the role involves managing inventories, working with a portfolio of vendors, and supporting strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize inventory and procurement processes.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma and/or relevant experience; SCMA designation considered an asset.
• Demonstrated experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
• Knowledge of paper manufacturing, distribution, printing, sign/display, industrial supplies or packaging industries is an asset.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); Infor Aplus ERP or similar distribution ERP systems preferred.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Highly organized with effective time management; able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team; strong customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Purchase products to maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Evaluate product availability and determine cost-effective replenishment strategies.
• Manage forecasts and monitor movement of product lines.
• Oversee processes, systems and inventory to ensure timely procurement.
• Proactively manage supplier performance and resolve delivery, pricing or quality issues.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with external suppliers.
• Collaborate with other departments to achieve shared goals and objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.
