Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory management, supply chain operations, or a related field
  • Experience within heavy equipment, automotive, mining, utilities, manufacturing, distribution, retail, or a similar industry is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of transportation, logistics, warehousing, sourcing, contracts management, or master data management is advantageous
  • Experience with Lawson or other MRP/ERP systems is preferred
  • Strong understanding of procurement, purchasing, and expediting processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with business systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail and accountability

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including ordering and expediting equipment from Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar suppliers
  • Create and manage purchase orders to support demand and inventory requirements
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, tracking systems, and item master data
  • Support equipment, power systems, and attachment availability while optimizing inventory performance
  • Build and maintain standard equipment configurations, pricing structures, and compatibility requirements
  • Partner with Industry Representatives to align configurations with product updates and customer needs
  • Collaborate with IT and quoting tool teams to maintain accurate system data and configurations
  • Work with branches, suppliers, inventory planners, transportation teams, and fulfillment groups to resolve issues and improve equipment availability
  • Investigate inventory and process challenges and recommend supply chain improvements
  • Provide guidance on procurement processes and equipment ordering procedures
  • Identify risks and coordinate solutions across multiple departments
  • Maintain procurement procedures and supporting documentation
  • Support other buyers and supply chain teams during peak periods and absences
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives enhancing efficiency, service levels, and customer satisfaction
