Job summary

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership (MLSE) is seeking a payroll accounting professional to help deliver accurate, timely payroll records across salaried, hourly, and executive groups. You will support reconciliations, month-end close, audits, and process improvements within MLSE’s Finance team.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3–5 years of payroll experience, and strong Excel/ERP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 3–5 years of payroll accounting, payroll operations, or related finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll accounting principles and payroll legislation.
• CPA enrollment or designation preferred; PCP or CPM designation is an asset.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with ADP and Oracle Cloud ERP is an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, organization, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative, service-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related GL, liability, benefit and accrual accounts.
• Support accurate and timely payroll processing for salaried, hourly, executive, and other employee groups.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, including payroll analysis, variance investigation, and financial reporting.
• Support statutory remittances and reporting, including payroll taxes, pension reporting, EHT, WSIB, garnishments, and year-end tax forms.
• Prepare documentation and schedules for internal, external, and year-end audits.
• Partner with Payroll, HR, Benefits, Compensation, and Finance to resolve issues and ensure accurate financial treatment.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, streamline processes, and improve payroll accuracy and efficiency.
