Job summary

TVO Media Education Group is seeking a seasoned Labour and Employee Relations Manager to provide practical labour and employee relations support in a highly unionized setting. You will advise leaders on collective agreement interpretation, investigations, performance management and conflict resolution.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labour Relations, Law, Business Administration or related field; equivalent combinations considered.
• Minimum of 5 years in a multi union public sector environment, leading investigations, grievances and negotiations.
• A strong interest and experience in the use of AI in a human resources environment.
• CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset.
• Progressive labour relations in a unionized environment with collective agreements administration.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario employment standards, labour relations, and health and safety laws.
• Experience supporting grievance management, workplace investigations, and discipline.
• Strong research, analytical and writing skills for summaries and briefing materials.
• Discretion, diplomacy and sound judgment in confidential matters.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day labour and employee relations advice to managers and colleagues.
• Administer policies and collective agreements; address discipline, performance, attendance and accommodations.
• Collaborate with union reps and stakeholders to resolve issues and grievances promptly.
• Conduct fact-finding, reviews and investigations; prepare findings and next steps.
• Prepare background materials for bargaining, grievance responses and settlements.
• Coordinate with HR, payroll, finance and leaders on settlements and changes.
