Job summary

The City of Red Deer is actively seeking a Human Resources Consultant to provide expert advice and services across a defined portfolio, including labour and employee relations, performance coaching, and workplace investigations.

As a strategic HR partner, you will collaborate with leaders to design workforce plans, lead recruitment, and drive organizational improvements in a dynamic municipal setting. This is a permanent full-time role with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in a related area (or equivalent).
• Minimum of five years as HR business partner/generalist focusing on labour and employee relations.
• Knowledge of legislation and professional standards.
• Experience with performance coaching and workplace investigations.
• Proficiency with MS Office and HRIS systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide HR advisory services to managers on policies, legislation, and employment agreements.
• Support labour relations and collective agreement administration.
• Act as Strategic HR Business Partner and align HR initiatives with business needs.
• Develop workforce and HR plans with leaders and support succession planning.
• Lead recruitment and selection activities end-to-end.
• Conduct workplace investigations and report findings and recommendations.
• Manage attendance, disability, and accommodation processes under legislative compliance.
• Provide policy development and organizational improvement support.
• Lead and support HR projects and organizational change efforts.
• Ensure compliance and risk mitigation across HR practices.
