Job summary

Women’s College Hospital in Ontario seeks a Regular Full-Time Strategic Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) to partner with client groups, lead HR strategy, and drive workforce planning and labor relations initiatives.

The SHRBP will provide strategic consultation on talent management, total rewards, and organizational change while collaborating with union leaders and leadership to deliver high-impact HR solutions aligned with the hospital’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ experience as an HR professional in a unionized workplace.
  • Experience in participating in the collective bargaining process.
  • Experience with compensation and benefits in a unionized environment.
  • Healthcare or broader public sector HR experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of provincial HR legislation and collective agreement administration.
  • Legally eligible to work in Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with assigned clientele to identify operational needs in relation to workforce planning and succession management.
  • Support leaders in timely, consistent and values-based people decisions by clarifying expectations, identifying gaps and following through on agreed actions.
  • Lead and/or participate in the execution of HR strategy components to enhance service delivery.
  • Lead complex cross-functional HR projects from scoping to implementation and evaluation.
  • Act as a business partner with program areas to provide HR analysis and risk communication to program managers.
  • Develop and execute change management strategies for HR initiatives with stakeholder engagement and adoption support.
  • Administer Collective Agreements and hospital policies with proper interpretation.
  • Handle grievance and dispute resolution including mediations and arbitration coordination.
  • Lead and support union-management committees and meetings.
  • Coach leaders in leveraging performance management tools for talent development.
  • Proactively build relationships with client groups and union leaders to support goals.
  • Facilitate timely resolution of employee and labour relations issues.
  • Conduct investigations with management and union where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health and Safety on return-to-work and accommodations.
  • Develop HR metrics and reports to guide decisions and improve practice.
