Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to partner with Ontario region leadership and drive strategic HR initiatives. You will shape policies, talent programs, and union-relations strategies to support business goals.

In this role, you will collaborate with senior leaders, manage labour relations, advise on workforce planning, and ensure compliant, people-first programs across multiple sites within the GTA. Travel to GFL locations will be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a unionized environment and ability to interpret collective agreements.
• Degree or diploma in Human Resources; CHRP designation is beneficial.
• Minimum 3 years in progressive HR roles within multi-stakeholder settings.
• Strong leadership, results focus, and client service orientation.
• Knowledge of Canadian labor laws, HR practices, and employment standards.
• Excellent written and spoken communication; policy and document writing experience.
• Ability to travel to multiple GFL locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business groups and senior leaders to align HR strategies with objectives.
• Provide expert employee and labour relations guidance and compliance support.
• Lead talent acquisition, staffing, and total rewards initiatives across Ontario.
• Develop and implement HR programs including health, wellness, training, and records management.
• Investigate employee relations issues and provide objective resolutions.
• Analyze data to justify staffing, turnover, and productivity decisions.
