Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is hiring a Finance Officer - Financial Planning to lead budget development and in-year financial planning. You will prepare documentation, analyze data, and report on financial results to support board priorities.

Reporting to the Team Manager, Financial Planning, the role emphasizes governance, internal controls, and in-depth financial analysis to enable informed decisions. 35 hours weekly, regular full-time position in Ottawa.

Qualifications

• A university degree in business administration or commerce.
• CPA designation required.
• 5 years of FP&A experience in a financial/management accounting environment.
• Advanced computer literacy with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, SQL and ERP systems.
• Experience with complex financial applications and implementing financial systems.
• Strong communication and analytical skills; public sector experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provides financial management support to the OCDSB's Continuing Education department and OCENET to ensure policy adherence and internal controls.
• Contributes to Financial Reporting to supply accurate data to stakeholders promptly.
• Analyzes and prepares financial information for EFIS and ministry reporting.
• Prepares annual budget packages (Estimates and Revised Estimates) for Board and Ministry approval.
• Monitors expenditures against the budget and forecasts year-end expenses.
• Conducts analyses and produces reports to support strategic decision making.
