Job summary

Miru Smart Technologies Corp. in Vancouver, BC, seeks an experienced CFO or VP Finance to lead financial strategy, governance, and planning as the company scales commercially and in manufacturing.

The role partners with the CEO and Board, translating technical and operational details into credible financial plans and scalable systems. You will build a finance organization aligned with multi-jurisdictional growth and debt strategies.

Qualifications

• Chartered Professional Accountant with significant experience as a CFO, VP Finance or senior finance executive in a venture-backed hard tech company.
• Experience with growth and organizational change in venture-backed settings.
• Experience with venture and strategic equity funding and involvement through term sheets, due diligence and closing.
• Experience developing detailed financial models in uncertain environments.
• Experience with commercial teams to develop defendable revenue forecasts.
• Experience translating R&D and technical programs into financial forecasts.
• Experience with manufacturing, operations or capital-intensive environments.
• Strong FP&A, forecasting and analytical capabilities.
• Experience presenting to Boards and sophisticated investors.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing costing, cash management, and capital allocation.

Responsibilities

• Lead integrated financial planning and forecasting with input from BD, R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Improve quality and reliability of the financial model and refine forecasts with commercial evidence.
• Provide management and Board with analysis of actual vs forecast and variance drivers.
• Develop financial and cost-accounting capabilities for manufacturing and licensing.
• Establish systems to track operating costs and gross margins as production scales.
• Evolve financial and operational systems from R&D to commercial/manufacturing readiness.
• Prioritize investments in software and people; ensure scalable system implementations.
• Provide governance and reporting for a rapidly growing venture-backed company across multiple jurisdictions.
• Support capital strategy with CEO, Board and investment bankers.
• Develop relationships with debt providers and access growth capital as milestones are met.
• Allocate capital to strategic milestones and build a financially integrated leadership team.
