Alberta Infrastructure is responsible for delivering about one quarter of the Alberta government's Capital Plan, which addresses the provincial infrastructure needs of Alberta's population that support key social programs and services and economic development.

The Ministry designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that school and hospital infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Infrastructure also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Reporting to the Manager, Asset Analytics & Reporting, the Strategic Asset Analyst will be responsible for comprehensive strategic asset management analysis to support the Asset Management Branch objectives and priorities. The position will work primarily in developing long-term strategic plans that align with the principles of asset management and assist in the preparation of relevant business case materials for management and ministerial briefing correspondence. The Strategic Asset Analyst has a key role in identifying and documenting frameworks and strategies that can potentially optimize asset evaluation processes, lead to alternative options, and support the implementation of recommended projects and strategies for optimal utilization of assets.

The primary responsibilities for the Strategic Asset Analyst include, but are not limited to:

• Building and maintaining asset and portfolio models, including financial, operational, and KPI tracking models.
• Developing, refining, and interpreting performance indicators, targets, and asset management metrics to support planning and decision-making.
• Conducting and interpreting financial analysis; connecting results to business context and identifying implications, risks, and decision considerations.
• Analyzing and interpreting utilization, occupancy, lease, cost, and portfolio information to identify trends, issues, opportunities, risks, implications, and decision considerations; preparing reports, briefings, and recommendations to support planning and decision-making.
• Preparing and tailoring reporting products for leadership audiences; interpreting reporting results to identify trends, issues, implications, and key messages.
• Developing and improving asset management frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures to support consistent decision-making and asset management practices.

• 4 years of progressively responsible related experience

Assets:

• Strong computer skills, experience and working knowledge of relevant software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and policies
• Knowledge of government priorities, political dynamics, strategic and policy directions and priorities.
• Knowledge of asset management frameworks, portfolio optimization and accommodation principles.
• Experience in real estate analytics, property analysis, asset management, or portfolio management
• Experience presenting analytical findings and recommendations to senior management.
• Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence and data visualization tools.
• Financial analysis & development of business cases

Notes

This position is a Permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am - 4:30 pm).
