Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Stores I to support hospital supply operations at Chinook Regional Hospital. The role involves picking, packing, shipping and receiving orders, processing requisitions, and distributing supplies to ensure accurate quantities and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate will perform inventory tracking, participate in quality assurance audits, and communicate with stakeholders to maintain stock levels and prevent shortages or overstocking in a high-demand

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; capable of pushing and pulling heavy wheeled carts up to 275 kg.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; reliable and detail-oriented; able to work independently with accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Pick, package, ship and receive hospital supplies, equipment and/or food following guidelines and standards.
  • Process requisitions and distribute supplies; maintain cart audits for quality assurance.
  • Track inventory and report on stock levels to prevent overstocking; communicate with stakeholders regularly.
  • Contribute to inventory reporting and analysis to support procurement decisions.

Job description

Your Opportunity:

Description: As a Stores I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with the picking, packaging, shipping and receiving of orders for hospital supplies, equipment and/or food in accordance with established guidelines and standards. You will process incoming requisitions and distribute supplies, complete cart audits for quality assurance and communicate frequently with stakeholders to ensure appropriate and correct quantities of supplies are available. In addition, you will track and report on inventory to ensure over stocking does not occur.

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Must be capable of pushing and pulling heavy wheeled carts up to and occasionally exceeding 275 Kgs. Must be capable of walking and or standing for long periods of time. Must regularly use hand and arms to reach, lift, and carry heavy items up to 25 kg.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • Must be competent in a computerized windows environment, and in utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Must be apable of understanding and accurately following complex and detailed instructions. Must be capable of performing basic mathematical functions; possess high standards of accuracy; be detail orientated requiring minimal supervision; reliable; possess strong interpersonal/customer service skills, working safely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle considered an asset. Experience and comfort with material handling equipment. Ability to read, write and comprehend English fluently. Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, end users and vendors. Strong attention to detail, and ability to maintain a positive attitude in a high stress environment, with time sensitive deliveries and changing priorities.
