Job description

Cloud Nine Cannabis is looking for a reliable, experienced and highly trustworthy Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of one of our retail locations.

This is a full-time, hands-on management position for someone who enjoys leading a team, takes pride in running a strong store, and can be counted on to follow through when something needs to get done.

Previous management and retail experience are highly valued. Just as importantly, we are looking for someone we can build a strong level of trust with. The Store Manager is given significant responsibility for staff, inventory, cash handling, store operations and maintaining Company standards, so reliability, honesty, sound judgment and discretion are essential.

The Store Manager works closely with our General Manager and Director of Retail Operations. Senior management provides the overall direction, policies and priorities of the business, while the Store Manager is responsible for implementing those expectations consistently at the store level.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Starting wage: $26.50/hour
  • Approximately 72 paid hours biweekly, with additional hours where operationally required
  • Up to 45 minutes of paid breaks during a standard 8-hour shift
  • A standard 8-hour paid shift therefore includes approximately 7 hours 15 minutes of active working time
  • At a workplace with a comparable 45-minute unpaid break, you would generally need to be at work for approximately 8 hours 45 minutes to receive 8 hours of pay
  • On that basis, $26.50/hour with our paid-break structure is comparable to approximately $29.24/hour at a job with an equivalent unpaid break
  • 4% vacation pay is paid in addition to regular wages, bringing that comparable value to approximately $30.41/hour
  • Extended health and dental benefits, subject to plan eligibility
  • Opportunity for wage growth based on performance and experience
  • Strong-performing managers may be considered for additional performance or long-term retention incentives after approximately 6–12 months
  • Support from a General Manager and Director of Retail Operations
What You'll Do

As Store Manager, you will be responsible for keeping the location properly staffed, organized, compliant and operating consistently to Company standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day store operations
  • Supervising, supporting and directing store employees
  • Implementing direction and priorities from senior management
  • Creating, maintaining and adjusting employee schedules based on staffing levels, availability and operational needs
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing and shift coverage
  • Hiring, training and onboarding employees as required
  • Managing employee performance and workplace concerns
  • Coordinating employee schedules, vacation requests and coverage
  • Maintaining strong customer-service and store-presentation standards
  • Ensuring inventory accuracy and product availability
  • Maintaining regulatory and Company compliance
  • Managing opening, closing, cash and daily operational procedures
  • Completing required paperwork, checklists and administrative duties
  • Coordinating supplies, maintenance and other store needs
  • Handling customer concerns and escalated situations professionally
  • Participating in meetings, promotions, events and Company initiatives
  • Communicating staffing and operational concerns promptly to senior management
  • Covering vacant shifts when necessary to maintain uninterrupted store operations
Reliability & Management Coverage

Reliable management coverage is a core responsibility of this position.

Cloud Nine has maintained consistent scheduled business hours for over 10 years, and our management team plays an important role in maintaining that standard.

If an unexpected absence occurs, the Store Manager is expected to arrange appropriate coverage where possible. If suitable coverage cannot be secured, the Store Manager must be prepared to personally cover the opening, closing or shift required to keep the store operating as scheduled.

We understand that everyone has commitments outside of work. At the same time, this position is best suited to someone with the flexibility and availability to make their management responsibilities a priority when the store genuinely needs them.

Evenings, weekends, holidays and occasional additional shifts are part of the position.

Our Store Environment

Cloud Nine operates as a polished, professional cannabis retail environment.

Our stores are intended to be welcoming, clean, organized and professionally presented.

We take pride in maintaining consistent standards and creating an environment where customers feel comfortable asking questions and receiving knowledgeable service. The Store Manager is expected to represent those standards and ensure the team does the same.

What We're Looking For

Experience is highly valued for this position. Cannabis retail experience is an asset, but we are also very interested in candidates with strong management, supervisory or retail leadership experience who can learn our systems and the cannabis industry thoroughly.

Trust is equally important. We want to develop a long-term working relationship with a manager who demonstrates honesty, discretion, good judgment and consistency, and who can be relied upon to handle important responsibilities professionally.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has previous retail, supervisory or management experience
  • Is dependable and consistently follows through
  • Is honest, trustworthy and uses good judgment
  • Takes direction well and implements Company expectations
  • Leads employees professionally and confidently
  • Is comfortable providing feedback and holding staff accountable
  • Communicates clearly with employees and senior management
  • Handles staffing problems and unexpected situations calmly
  • Is organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities
  • Adapts well when priorities or operational needs change
  • Takes pride in cleanliness, presentation and customer service
  • Understands the additional responsibility and flexibility that comes with management
  • Is interested in building a stable, long-term relationship with the Company
