Full-time: Monday – Saturday shifts

Habitat Edmonton is a registered charity that brings communities together to help families, couples, and individuals build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. It is one of over 50 Canadian Habitats affiliated with Habitat Canada, governed by Habitat International. Besides being a charity, Habitat Edmonton facilitates home construction, manages a portfolio of affordable homes, empowers volunteers and homeowners, and operates a social enterprise including four stores.

Position

We are seeking an energetic, ground-engaged, team-focused full-time Store Manager to oversee the retail operations of the St. Albert ReStore location. The Store Manager will lead staff, volunteers, and customer relations to achieve financial and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in creating the annual budget and sales projections.
  • Drive key performance indicators and understand how store operations impact them.
  • Develop strategies to increase sales, donations, and manage operational costs.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, competitors, and opportunities or risks.
  • Work on the sales floor 80-90% of the time, supervising staff and volunteers, managing store opening/closing, and security systems.
  • Handle cash register operations and financial reconciliations.
  • Uphold loss prevention measures and identify shrinkage reduction opportunities.
  • Build cooperative relationships within the team and with external partners.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, supervision, and performance reviews of staff and volunteers, in collaboration with HR.
  • Manage employee schedules, customer service standards, and conflict resolution.
  • Coordinate promotional strategies with marketing and communications teams.
  • Oversee donor paperwork and donation suitability assessments.
  • Proactively secure donations aligning with store needs.
  • Champion a safety culture, ensuring compliance with OH&S policies and provincial legislation.
Qualifications
  • Management or leadership experience or education.
  • Experience with store openings, hiring, onboarding, and training.
  • Retail experience with merchandising skills.
  • Core principles of servant leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and organize staff.
  • Proficiency in approaching donors and managing multiple tasks.
  • Problem-solving skills, ability to remain calm under stress.
  • Physical ability to work on feet, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literacy, familiarity with HR policies, valid driver’s license, and product knowledge of building supplies.
  • First Aid, WHMIS, Fork-lift certification (training provided), and bondability.
