Job summary

Deerhurst Resort in Ontario is seeking a Stewarding Supervisor to lead all Stewarding operations, ensure cleanliness and food safety standards, and support the Steward Manager in daily activities.

You will coach and develop Associates, manage scheduling, coordinate training, and work with outlets to maintain par levels of china, silver and glass, while adhering to health and safety requirements.

Job description

Position Summary

The Stewarding Supervisor will be responsible for all Stewarding operations of the Stewarding department and monitoring all aspects of cleanliness and health standards.

Responsibilities
  • Recognizes and greets all guests and team members first
  • Provides exceptional and professional service to our guests and team members
  • Ensures the well-being of our guests and team members by being alert to and reporting potential hazards
  • Models all Deerhurst Resort Standards while caring for the guests, co-workers and owners
  • Comfortable making responsible decisions and develops recommendations for effective problem solving
  • Develop and continue to build strong team relationships within the department and inter-departmentally under the direction of the Steward Manager
  • Work closely with outlet leaders to maintain adequate levels of china, silver and glass par stock levels in all outlets
  • Plays an active role in the recruiting process, departmental orientation and training of new associates
  • Assist in monitoring and striving to exceed budgetary guidelines
  • Follow up with Supervisors to ensure adequate training has been provided to associates
  • Provides daily coaching and development to the Stewarding Supervisors and Associates
  • Assist in the operations of the Stewarding department to ensure friendly, courteous and efficient service is extended to all guests and associates
  • Reviewing daily schedule business levels vs. Departmental staffing requirements
  • Update Banquet Event Orders to ensure proper guest needs and requirements
  • Completing quarterly inventory checks to ensure adequate supply of tools, chemicals, etc.
  • Effective and clear communication to all departments required
  • Assist the Chief Steward to seek new ways to raise the bar for best practices
  • Aids Chief Steward to ensure positive team member morale is maintained and the Associate Opinion Survey Action Plan is achieved
  • Ensure that all H&S incidents are dealt with in a timely manner and prevented in the future
  • Follow and provide all hotel Health & Safety requirements; Personal Protective Equipment, Safe Work procedures
  • Promote, communicate and adhere to all Environmental standards put out by the resort
  • Follow up to ensure all duties have been completed to standard
  • Ensures support of the Open Door Policy
  • Performs the tasks of other Stewarding roles as required
  • Provides support to Security and/or Team Leaders by communicating any unusual situation or person/s
  • Provides support per the Emergency Response Plan as directed by the Chief Steward, Duty Manager and/or Senior Leader on-site
  • Managing and scheduling monthly departmental meetings and training sessions
  • Completes all other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
  • High School diploma is an asset
  • A valid Ontario drivers license and clean driving record is required
  • Current sanitation certificate is required
  • WHMIS certification an asset
  • Previous leadership experience is required
