Job summary

Okta is seeking a Staff FullStack Engineer for the AI Acceleration Team in Canada. You will own the technical build for solving agent authorization and phishing-resistant access, working across JavaScript/TypeScript and Java on AWS, with a focus on least privilege and security at scale.

This 0-to-1 role involves shaping problems, making architectural calls, and driving engineering excellence across the team, while keeping customer outcomes at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Proven experience defining scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs with modern web technologies.
• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization security in web apps.
• Experience building enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language.

Responsibilities

• Define how agents are authorized to act and enforce least privilege.
• Build phishing-resistant authentication and authorization for people and agents.
• Shape product direction by identifying customer needs and desired outcomes.
• Own quality: drive product and quality judgments, not just code.
• Make architectural decisions for distributed systems and complex API integrations.
• Advance development practices to improve AI-enabled lifecycle, reviews, and deployment.
• Mentor teammates to raise technical standards and spread best practices.
• Reduce tech debt and improve CI/CD, observability, reliability, and support.
• Maintain a customer-focused view, ensuring outcomes align with user problems.
