Job summary

Okta is hiring a Staff Software Engineer- Backend, Device Identity in Canada. You will architect and scale server-side services using Java and Spring, build RESTful APIs, and work on high-performance databases like PostgreSQL/MySQL.

You’ll mentor engineers, shape architecture, and advance CI/CD and security practices in a fast-paced, security-focused environment. You’ll contribute to AI-native engineering practices, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help secure millions of endpoints

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience with Java/Spring.
• Experience designing and building scalable server-side features.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and relational databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Drive cross-functional collaboration across Product, Design, and QA.
• Lead design and implementation of features within the Java platform.
• Define engineering best practices and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Mentor and coach other engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable software with strong test coverage.
