Job summary

Qualcomm Canada ULC is hiring a Firmware Engineer to lead firmware architecture, development and bring-up for SERDES PHY products. You will collaborate with Hardware/Systems/Software teams, drive RTL-to-post-silicon activities, and develop reusable code constructs across the organization.

The role requires strong C/C++ skills, experience with embedded systems, and a track record of driving complex firmware projects from design through validation. A hands-on, collaborative mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 2+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• Experience with embedded systems (ARM, RISCV, MIPS) and low-level programming (bare metal, BIOS/UEFI, Linux kernel, RTOS, drivers)

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements, studying high level designs, developing device interface functions and turning small building blocks into higher level firmware system design
• Collaborate with ASIC/Digital Design, Digital Verification, software and systems engineers to meet performance goals
• Translate bring up and validation requirements into efficient C/C++ firmware code
• Oversee firmware lifecycle for SERDES PHY from pre-silicon to post-silicon validation
• Develop and document firmware and hardware design specifications and decisions
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement in processes and techniques
• Drive multi-functional teams to address integration and bring-up challenges to meet program timing
