Job description

What is the opportunity? The DevOps team at RBC is undertaking multiple complex enterprise-wide initiatives to improve technology management and establish global leadership. As a Staff Developer, you will work on a developer portal, a microservice-based system built with Java Spring Boot and React, deployed in the Cloud. You will lead efforts to design and develop new functionalities for the portal and expand its reach across the organization.

You will be part of a team of DevOps engineers and developers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote DevOps practices and build a centralized developer portal in a dynamic environment.

This role requires someone to lead in the technical design and development of multi-platform application systems, applying extensive knowledge and skills to complex tasks. Hands-on technical expertise is essential. Your responsibilities include:

1. Providing technical leadership for the team, guiding design and development of the in-house DevOps developer portal.
2. Managing projects end-to-end, demonstrating ownership, stakeholder management, and timely delivery.
3. Developing micro-frontend components with React, creating reusable front-end libraries.
4. Collaborating with other teams on UI applications.
5. Building micro-services with Java Spring Boot to interact with front-end and other services.
6. Integrating third-party APIs and creating scalable applications.
7. Partnering with teams to understand user needs and delivering solutions to complex business problems.
8. Maintaining technical documentation, writing organized code and tests.
9. Implementing end-to-end monitoring and troubleshooting issues as they arise.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Experience in UI design and implementation using React.
2. Knowledge of front-end build pipelines and tools like Redux, Babel, Webpack.
3. Understanding of software design patterns and best practices.
4. Willingness to learn and take on challenges.
5. Team-oriented attitude.
6. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as GitHub Actions or CircleCI.

Preferred Skills:

1. Knowledge of enterprise security concepts like SSO, SSL, encryption, authentication, entitlements.
2. Experience with cloud-native solutions, DevOps, and modernization.
3. Knowledge of Kafka and Elasticsearch.
