Job summary

Vanta seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead the re-platforming of the data layer underpinning the compliance product. You will migrate from a Mongo-centric model to a schema-aware Postgres-backed system, keeping all public APIs intact while preserving customer evidence during migration.

Foundations is the data platform team handling tens of thousands of resources per second and massive bursts. You will shape streaming pipelines (Kafka/S3), ensure cross-team collaboration, and guide reliability

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in migrating large data platforms with backward compatibility.
• Strong background in streaming/queuing systems and data pipelines.
• Experience with relational and document databases at enterprise scale.
• Ability to define multi-quarter technical roadmaps with leadership alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead migration of data model from Mongo-centric to schema-aware Postgres-backed solution with parallel generations.
• Drive cross-team solutions that rely on platform built by your team.
• Design for correctness under eventual consistency and idempotent session handling.
