Job summary

Vancity in Canada seeks a Data Engineering Team Lead to provide technical leadership for data platforms, set standards, and design scalable architectures. You will mentor engineers, guide cross-team initiatives, and ensure governance aligns with business priorities while remaining hands-on.

You will influence platform strategy, lead complex data initiatives, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to balance technical excellence with delivery timelines. Hybrid work with on-site events as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline.
• 6-8+ years of industry experience in Data Engineering.
• Experience with big data and analytics programming languages such as Python, R, Spark in Databricks.
• Experience with batch and real-time processing frameworks (EventHub, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, etc.).
• Strong ability to innovate and adapt to emerging technologies.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Semarchy and EventHub.
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices and security-first principles.
• Understanding of data storage, mapping, modeling, and real-time data handling.
