Rai Sekhon Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated, and experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about assurance and Canadian taxation, with a background in public practice and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to clients. As a Staff Accountant, you will take a lead role in managing and completing various types of engagements and contributing to the continued success of the firm.

Responsibilities

• Prepare client engagements including compilations, review engagements, and trust audits.
• Prepare tax filings such as Canadian personal, corporate, and trust tax returns.
• Conduct technical tax research and draft comprehensive tax planning recommendations for clients.
• Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and tax authorities to address inquiries and ensure smooth workflow.
• Support client accounts, including coordination and oversight of filing schedules and planning strategies.
• Collaborate with team members and partners on tax planning engagements, estate and trust compliance, and business succession strategies.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new processes and ideas to enhance efficiency and client service.
• Take initiative in understanding complex tax queries and present well-documented solutions to partners and clients.

Requirements

• CPA designation or in the final stages considered an asset.
• A minimum of two years of Canadian tax experience in a public accounting firm.
• Strong knowledge of tax laws and compliance for individuals and corporations.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative and respectful approach to teamwork and client interactions.
• Keen attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
