Job summary

Spirit Omega Inc. in Pickering, ON is seeking two Design Engineers for an 18‑month, 40 hr/wk onsite assignment. You will lead and execute engineering documentation, review specifications, and support safety, quality, schedule, and cost commitments for a Safe Storage Project.

You will perform field validation, assist in project planning, and interface with regulators. A 4‑year degree, P.Eng. designation, and 5+ years of related field experience are required; nuclear experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or nuclear engineering is required.
• P.Eng. designation is required.
• 5+ years of field experience in related education is required.
• Experience with Engineering Change Control is preferred.
• Nuclear experience is preferred.
• Project Management or Project Coordination experience is an asset.
• DE Qualification (QID 33685) preferred.
• Position is for 2 Mechanical Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering documentation including specifications, procedures, training manuals, operations manuals, and drawings.
• Adhere to governance, processes and guidelines for engineering documentation.
• Conduct field work to validate assumptions and provide technical oversight for execution activities.
• Assist in project planning including Project Execution Plans, project estimating, Risk Register, and business case summaries.
• Prepare/revise technical justifications, procedures, training and qualification plans.
• Interface with regulators and stakeholders on technical matters.
• Work from the office is required 5 days a week.

Job Overview

Design Engineer is proficient in the use of Engineering Change Control (ECC) processes and procedure and is accountable for the production and delivery of high-quality design products as part of the a Safe Storage Project. The Design Engineer is responsible to meet safety, quality, schedule and cost commitments as established by the Engineering Section Manager and/or Project. The Design Engineer will:

• Prepare and review engineering documentation, including engineering specifications, procedures, training manuals, operations manuals, and drawings.
• Adhere to specific governance, processes and guidelines used to prepare/revise engineering and project documentation.
• Conduct field work to validate assumptions for ongoing assignments, and to provide technical support/oversight for execution activities.
• Assist in project planning, including preparation of Project Execution Plans, project estimating, Risk Register, Business Case Summary, and other pertinent documents.
• Prepare/revise technical justifications, procedures, training and qualification plans.
• Interface with regulators and stakeholders on technical matters.
• Work from the office is required 5 days a week.

Qualifications

• 4 year university degree in mechanical, or nuclear engineering.
• P.Eng. designation required.
• "5 or more years of experience "field" of education required."
• Demonstrated experience with Engineering Change Control preferred.
• Nuclear experience preferred.
