Job summary

Aker Solutions in St. John's, NL is recruiting a Structural Engineer to support our onshore engineering group.

You will provide structural design and analysis for brownfield modifications, develop installation and lifting solutions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, safe field solutions. Ideal candidates have 10+ years of experience, P.Eng registration with PEGNL, and strong knowledge of CAN/CSA S16, STAAD.Pro, and related tools.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably brownfield design.
• P.Eng registration with PEGNL.
• Strong knowledge of CAN/CSA S16 and related structural standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide structural engineering support for life-cycle operation, maintenance, and modification of offshore facilities.
• Develop constructability and installation solutions for lifting, rigging, transportation, removal and installation.
• Design temporary lift frames, lifting aids, rigging, supports and base structures.
• Perform structural analysis of existing structures and temporary works; assess lifting and material handling.
• Review 3D models and conduct clash/constructability reviews.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop installation/removal methodologies; prepare calculations, drawings, reports.

Our team in St. John's, NL is seeking a Structural Engineer to support our onshore Engineering group!

What will you be doing?

• Providing structural engineering support for the life-cycle operation, maintenance, and modification of offshore facilities.
• Developing constructability and installation solutions for equipment changeout, including lifting, rigging, transportation, removal, and installation.
• Designing temporary lift frames, lifting aids, rigging arrangements, equipment supports, pipe supports, anchorages, steel platforms, and structural modifications to existing steel structures.
• Performing structural analysis of existing structures and temporary works, including assessment of structures for lifting and material-handling activities.
• Reviewing 3D models and performing clash and constructability reviews.
• Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering, construction, and offshore teams to develop practical installation and removal methodologies.
• Preparing engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and technical documentation.

We think you should have:

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience, ideally within in a brownfield engineering design environment.
• Current registrations with PEGNL as a P.Eng
• Extensive knowledge of CAN/CSA S16 – Design of Steel Structures and applicable structural design standards.
• Strong structural analysis and design experience, including experience using STAAD.Pro or similar structural analysis software. Experience with SACS and/or ANSYS would be considered an asset.
• Experience with existing structure assessment, structural modifications, finite element analysis, temporary works, lifting/rigging, or constructability would be an asset.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• A practical, solution-oriented approach to structural engineering and the ability to apply sound engineering judgment to complex problems
