Job summary

Aker Solutions is seeking an Offshore Material Controller for the Hebron project in St. John’s, NL. You will manage receipt, inspection, and storage of offshore materials and equipment, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with safety and preservation standards.

You’ll coordinate loading/unloading, track inventory with SAP and related systems, and work with onshore teams to meet project priorities. A strong background in offshore logistics and material management is essential.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, trade certification, degree, or equivalent experience in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of offshore construction, materials management, or warehousing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of materials (piping, valves, fittings, instrumentation, mechanical, electrical).
  • Experience with SAP and material management systems; Kabal is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret work packs, schedules, material plans, and project requirements to prioritize activities.
  • Review requirements with project teams to identify material needs and risks.
  • Receive, verify, track, store, and distribute materials and offshore containers.
  • Coordinate loading/unloading, transportation, backloads, and material movements with proper documentation.
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment where qualified.
  • Maintain inventory, traceability, shipment, and compliance records in SAP/Kabal.
  • Manage rentals, temporary equipment, and offshore equipment registers.
  • Monitor inventory levels, shelf life, preservation, and stock replenishment.
  • Track material status, transfers, shortages, and supply chain risks.
  • Communicate with onshore teams to resolve material issues and expedite needs.
  • Participate in planning meetings and provide material status updates.

The Hebron Supply Chain team in St. John's, NL is seeking an Offshore Material Controller - Construction and Maintenance to manage the receipt, inspection, and storage of materials and equipment offshore. This position ensures deliveries are complete, undamaged, accurately documented, and stored in compliance with company, client, and preservation requirements.

What will you be doing?
  • Interpret work packs, schedules, material plans, and project requirements to prioritize activities.
  • Review operational, maintenance, and construction requirements with project teams to identify material needs, risks, and upcoming priorities.
  • Receive, verify, track, store, and distribute materials, equipment, and offshore containers in accordance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate loading, unloading, transportation, backloads, and material movements while ensuring accurate documentation and accountability.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, where qualified and authorized.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, material traceability, shipment, certification, preservation, inspection, and compliance records using SAP, Kabal, and other company specific material management systems.
  • Manage inventories, rentals, temporary equipment, tools, and offshore equipment registers, including utilization, certification, inspection, and recertification requirements. Responsible for coordinating the timely backload and return of all rental and temporary equipment.
  • Manage backload of materials/equipment, ensuring proper documentation and pertinent information is detailed.
  • Monitor inventory levels, shelf life, preservation requirements, and stock replenishment to ensure material availability.
  • Track and report material status, transfers, critical shortages, and supply chain risks.
  • Communicate and collaborate with onshore teams including but not limited to procurement, logistics, warehouse, maintenance, and construction to resolve material issues and expedite critical requirements.
  • Participate in planning meetings and providing material status updates.
We think you should have:
  • Diploma, trade certification, degree, or equivalent experience in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in offshore construction, materials management, or warehousing.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, including piping, valves, fittings, instrumentation, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
  • Experience with SAP and other material management, inventory control, asset tracking systems; experience with Kabal is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of offshore logistics, lifting operations, inventory management, and material traceability.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, preservation, certification, storage requirements, regulatory compliance, and offshore HSE practices, including Permit to Work systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, including P&IDs, isometrics, material specifications, project schedules, and work packs.
  • Ability to assess material requirements, identify and mitigate supply chain risks, prioritize competing demands, and communicate effectively to support project schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail, organized, good communication and problem-solving skills, while working in a fast-paced offshore environment.
  • Possession of all regulatory training and certifications required under the CAAP Standard Practice for the Training and Qualifications of Offshore Personnel.
