Job summary

Levitt-Safety Limited in Oakville, Ontario is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Technician to perform verification, inspection, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems in compliance with NFPA, ULC and local codes.

You will verify newly installed systems, maintain records, coordinate subcontractors, respond to after-hours calls and contribute to health and safety initiatives while representing the company on customer sites.

Qualifications

• CFAA Registration is required.
• A 309A Electrical License will be a strong asset.
• 3-5 years of industry experience in Fire Detection, Special Hazards and Programming Addressable Panels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of NFPA, ULC and Fire codes.
• Candidate must pass pre-employment checks including background and drug tests.

Responsibilities

• Regular inspections and maintenance of fire alarm systems per ULC guidelines.
• Verify newly installed fire alarm systems and complete verification reports for addressable panels.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on fire alarm, fire suppression and emergency lighting systems.
• Maintain records of inspections, testing, repairs and impairments per Levitt ISO standards.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and assist in project management with design team.
• Respond to after-hours emergency calls.
• Participate in health and safety initiatives including JHAs and safe work practices.
• Represent Levitt-Safety as the face of the company on customer sites.

Job description

As a successful experienced Senior Fire Alarm Technician, you must exert a high level of confidence in performing verification, certification, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fire alarm systems as per applicable fire codes.

Main Responsibilities

• Regular inspections and maintenance of fire alarm systems and equipment including repairs and documenting deficiencies, according to ULC guidelines.
• Verify newly installed fire alarm systems, breaker panels associated to fire alarms and complete verification reports and program addressable panels.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on fire alarm, fire suppression and fire sprinkler pumps and emergency lighting systems.
• Maintain code mandated records of all inspections, testing, repairs, and system impairments and other associated paperwork per Levitt ISO standards.
• Coordinate and supervise sub-contractors as required and assist in special project management working closely with the design team project manager.
• Respond to after-hours emergency calls.
• Ongoing participation in health and safety initiatives including the development of JHAs and safe work practices relevant to the role.
• Being the face of Levitt-Safety for our customers and their onsite safety needs

Ideal Qualifications
