Our job is to make great food.

Canada Packers will embrace Maple Leaf Foods' strong values-based culture, where our people are deeply engaged in work that is purposeful, fast-paced, and challenging. We cultivate an open, non-bureaucratic, and inclusive workplace that fosters safety and transparency, along with individual leadership and accountability. Each team member has a voice and plays an active role in helping all of us achieve our goals with passion and discipline. We support one another to grow professionally, learn new skills, and take on challenging experiences in the spirit of continuous improvement.

The Opportunity:

As a key member of the Fixed Assets team, the Senior Financial Analyst, Capital Assets will oversee the full lifecycle of capital asset management for two major production facilities. This includes managing the capital subledger, supporting project-level capital expenditure oversight, and ensuring adherence to corporate policy and internal controls. The role also involves forecasting capital spend, reviewing invoices against purchase orders, and preparing executive-level reports for Capital Council. This high-visibility, dynamic role requires a proactive, detail-oriented finance professional who can blend financial rigor with operational partnership.

Application Deadline:

Any Maple Leaf Foods team member interested in this role is encouraged to apply online by June 25. Applications received beyond that date are not guaranteed consideration.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
  • Own and maintain the capital asset subledger for multiple production sites
  • Ensure accurate and timely accounting of capital transactions, including asset capitalization, transfers, and retirements
  • Monitor and analyze assets under construction (AUC) Capital Expenditure Oversight
  • Review capital expenditure requests (CERs) for policy compliance and financial accuracy
  • Support management in reviewing and tracking capital-related invoices and matching them to purchase orders
  • Collaborate with plant teams to forecast capital spend and provide analytical support for capital project management
  • Develop and maintain project tracking tools to monitor timelines, budgets, and milestones
  • Assist project owners in financial decision-making by providing in-depth capital project analysis
  • Conduct post-implementation financial reviews to assess ROI and efficiency improvements
  • Identify risks and opportunities related to capital projects and provide insights to stakeholders
  • Prepare and present capital spend reports and dashboards to senior leaders and Capital Council
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and controls related to capital expenditures
  • Complete quarterly idle asset reporting and related documentation
  • Lead or support internal control testing and audit activities, including external audits (e.g., KPMG)
  • Identify and implement process improvements for asset management and reporting
  • Coach and support capital project owners on financial processes and policy adherence
  • Participate in ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
What You’ll Bring:
  • CPA designation with 5+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably in manufacturing or capital-intensive environments
  • Strong knowledge of capital accounting, asset lifecycle management, and internal controls
  • Experience with SAP (especially Fixed Assets module) and BPC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with ability to develop and maintain reporting tools
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence decision-makers
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail and a mindset for continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
What We Offer:
  • The opportunity to be part of a high-performance, values-driven team supporting growth and excellence in Canada’s leading food organization
  • An inclusive culture and a safe, rewarding work environment that empowers contributions and learning
  • A hybrid work model combining remote and in-office work for work-life balance
  • Competitive health and wellness benefits, including mental health programs, effective from day one
  • Defined contribution pension plan with company matching from day one
  • Development opportunities through workshops, speaker series, and resources
  • Tuition reimbursement for eligible education and certifications
  • Paid volunteer days to support community involvement
