Overview

The Sr. Director of Business Development is responsible for the development of new business contacts, managing and maintaining existing customer relations, contacts, and sales in the fields of Oil & Gas, Power, Manufacturing, Cement, Mining.

Location:This is a remote position, which can be based anywhere in the U.S. This position supports our business across the United States. This position will have up to 50% travel to regional office locations. This role is eligible for an annual incentive plan and vehicle allowance.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify, develop and lead sales opportunities through industry research, calls to clients, media, site visits and attending trade shows and conventions
  • Obtain a deep knowledge of and experience with owners, developers, architects and other decision makers in target markets
  • Build rapport with a network of contacts
  • Work closely with Vice Presidents, Estimating Directors and Project Managers on business leads
  • Work with department VP to establish company budget/sales goals
  • Pre-qualify MIC for project opportunities
  • Observe applicable current events, business trends and activity of competitors in order to gain information to make good business decisions and improve our strategy
  • Coordinate proposals, correspondence letters and respond to RFP’s
  • Develop and maintain a database for potential client and project opportunities using the Salesforce CRM
  • Develop an understanding of the client’s goals, needs and concerns and clearly communicate this to Estimating Director (s) to assure we submit responsive bids and increase our chances of receiving contract awards
  • Establish marketing goals to ensure market share and profitability of products and/or services
  • Manage monthly and annual marketing budgets
  • Manage and execute marketing plans and programs, both short- and long-range, to ensure the profit growth and expansion of Company products and/or services
  • Communicate marketing efforts to all Company employees
  • Seek out and use industry sources and consumer information
  • Develop surveys and other marketing tools
  • Track marketing results so objectives are achieved within designated budgets
  • Travel to various client locations on a regular basis
  • Manage, lead direct reports, and mentor.

SUPERVISORY:

  • Must be able to direct, manage, and lead multiple director reports throughout the department.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/BA degree in Marketing, Construction Management or a Business-related field
  • Ten (10) years in direct marketing/sales of construction-related services preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
  • When on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Possess strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work well under pressure, and ability to meet timelines and deadlines
  • Work well independently
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working with MIC team members and customers.
  • Read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
  • Effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Other may duties may be assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires prolonged sitting at a desk and working at a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
