Job summary

Trans Union in Hamilton is seeking an experienced Intermediate Electrical Designer/Engineer to advance building electrical design for power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems. Join a firm that delivers residential, commercial, and institutional projects and values hands-on mentorship.

You will contribute from concept through construction, collaborate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams, and ensure codes and standards are met while managing multiple deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • 3-6 years of experience within a consulting engineering environment (building design).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Electrical Code and relevant standards.
  • Experience working on residential, commercial, or institutional projects.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical design drawings and documentation for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Support projects from concept through to construction, including design development and tender packages.
  • Perform calculations including load calculations, panel schedules, and lighting layouts.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Participate in client meetings and internal design coordination meetings.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and assist during construction administration phases.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
