Job summary

A Senior Electrical Engineer is sought by a private engineering consultancy in Ontario to lead electrical scope from concept to construction on tenant fit-out projects across hospitality, commercial, retail and medical environments.

You will own the design lifecycle, coordinate with architects and contractors, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with codes and client specifications. A strong client-facing approach and ability to manage multiple projects is essential.

Qualifications

• P.Eng designation in Ontario is required.
• 8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Strong experience delivering tenant fit out and commercial interior projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering and design for commercial tenant fit outs and building projects.
• Take ownership of electrical projects from initial assessment and concept through detailed design, construction and close out.
• Prepare and review electrical engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports.
• Design electrical distribution, lighting, power, emergency power and life safety systems.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural and other disciplines.
• Conduct site visits, field reviews and existing condition assessments.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, RFIs and change requests.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Work directly with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical input throughout construction.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with applicable codes, standards and client requirements.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables and technical quality.
• Support business development and client relationships where appropriate.

We are working with a well established, privately owned engineering consulting firm that has been operating for over 14 years. The company has built a strong reputation delivering electrical, mechanical, lighting, fire alarm, sustainable design and building condition assessment services across a diverse range of projects.

The majority of the firm's work is focused on tenant fit outs. Projects span hospitality, commercial office, retail, industrial and medical environments.

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who can take ownership of electrical engineering projects, work directly with clients and project stakeholders, and bring strong technical expertise to a growing team.

The Role:

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the electrical scope of projects from initial concept and design through construction and completion. You will work closely with clients, architects, contractors, mechanical engineers and other project stakeholders, with significant exposure to tenant improvement and fit out projects. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys being involved in the technical work while also taking responsibility for project delivery and client relationships.

What We're Looking For:

• P.Eng. designation in Ontario is required
• 8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
• Strong experience delivering tenant fit out and commercial interior projects
• Experience across sectors such as commercial office, retail, hospitality, industrial or medical environments
• Strong knowledge of electrical building systems, codes and standards
• Experience taking ownership of projects through the full design and construction lifecycle
• Strong understanding of electrical design software and engineering tools
• Experience conducting site reviews and working with contractors during construction
• Strong communication and client relationship management skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small, experienced team
• Experience reviewing and mentoring the work of junior engineers and designers
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
