Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions in Toronto is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Designer to join a well-established consulting firm as Electrical Project Lead. The role offers ownership of design through construction on diverse building projects and a hybrid work arrangement.

The successful candidate will have 3–8 years of Canadian building consulting experience, EIT or P.Eng. in Ontario, and a proactive approach to client relations and project leadership.

Qualifications

3–8 years of electrical engineering/design experience in Canadian building consulting.
Experience with building electrical systems: power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage.
EIT or P.Eng. designation in Ontario or eligibility for registration.
Experience preparing detailed design drawings and tender packages.
Strong communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Lead the electrical engineering and design components of building projects.
Own project delivery, including design, coordination, documentation, and construction administration.
Work closely with architects, mechanical, structural engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
Participate in project management, contract administration, site visits, and field reviews.
Build relationships with clients and serve as a technical resource throughout project delivery.
Assist with fee proposals, project scopes, and client presentations.
Assess existing electrical systems and prepare condition assessment reports.
Provide technical advisory services and engineering recommendations to clients.
Design and coordinate electrical building systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, low-voltage, and building infrastructure.
Prepare electrical load calculations and engineering analysis.
Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, tender packages, and technical reports.
Review shop drawings and provide technical support throughout construction.
Participate in internal technical reviews and quality assurance processes.
Continue developing technical and project leadership capabilities with mentorship from senior engineers.

What You'll Be Doing

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Lead the electrical engineering and design components of building projects.

Take ownership of project delivery, including design, coordination, documentation, and construction administration.

Lighting

Emergency power

Fire alarm

Low-voltage systems

What You'll Bring

We’re looking for someone who has a strong foundation in building electrical systems and is ready to take on increasing responsibility.

Ideally, You Will Have

3–8 years of professional experience in electrical engineering/design within the Canadian building consulting industry.

Experience with building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.

EIT or P.Eng. designation in Ontario, or eligibility for registration.

Electrical Designers with strong consulting experience will also be considered.

Experience preparing detailed design drawings and tender packages.

Exposure to feasibility studies, budget estimates, shop drawing reviews, commissioning, and/or condition assessments.

Strong understanding of building construction and electrical systems.

Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and Ontario Building Code (OBC).

Strong communication and coordination skills.

Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of your responsibilities.

An interest in continuing to develop toward project leadership and senior-level responsibilities.
