We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join our dynamic team with an Insurance client. The role involves managing and optimizing our database infrastructure across Canada locations.

In This Role, You Will

1. Lead and optimize Azure SQL Managed Instance and SQL Server databases to ensure high performance and availability.
2. Lead database migration projects and upgrades to minimize downtime and disruption.
3. Troubleshoot and resolve database integrity, performance, blocking, deadlocking, replication, log shipping, connectivity, and security issues.
4. Detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and resource contention.
5. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.
6. Implement and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve performance issues.
7. Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
8. Conduct regular database maintenance tasks, including indexing, statistics updates, and performance tuning.
9. Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.

What You’ll Need To Succeed (required Skills)

1. Experience in SQL Server Database Administration (2008 R2, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022).
2. Proficiency in planning and forecasting to maintain database scalability.
3. Solid understanding of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Mirroring, Replication, and Always ON.
4. Expertise in Performance Tuning and Query Optimization using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler, and other tools on Azure SQL VM.

What Will Help You Stand Out (preferred Skills)

1. Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, and DB2 LUW databases.
2. Hands-on experience with monitoring tools like Foglight, Sentry, Idea Litespeed.
3. Hands-on experience with backup tools such as EMC Networker, Litespeed, and Commvault.
