Job description

Sports & Leisure Team Leader

Hours of Work: Variable, Seasonal Contract

What we need in a nutshell:

We are looking for dynamic, determined, enthusiastic people who thrive on providing memorable guest experiences and want to help develop the Leisure team. Your role will involve supervising, controlling, and ensuring the safety of customers at all times within the centre, particularly in the swimming pool environment, while delivering the highest standards of customer service to all users.

Who are we?

We’re a dynamic and growing company, shaking up the Great British holiday at our award-winning UK resorts. Retallack Resort and Spa is a luxury spa resort and a lively watersports hub, nestled in a stunning countryside location near the North Cornish coast.

Your responsibilities will include assisting in the operation of the leisure centre to achieve maximum sales, maintaining excellent customer service, and ensuring cleanliness by leading motivated and skilled staff.

In partnership with the Leisure Manager, Leisure Duty Manager, and other team leaders, you will:

  1. Actively market and promote the business, seeking opportunities to increase sales and enhance customer service.
  2. Supervise, train, and motivate the team on duty to ensure efficient operation and high standards of customer care.
  3. Maintain and develop the highest levels of safety and service within the leisure centre.
  4. Be responsible for the security, presentation, cleanliness, maintenance of facilities, plant operation, water quality testing, stock management, and implementing operational and emergency procedures.
  5. Organize and run activities such as archery, axe throwing, and tie-dye.
  6. Process financial transactions, cash reconciliation, and accept bookings in compliance with regulations.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by Centre Management to ensure smooth operation, including emergency procedures.
  8. Ensure high standards of cleanliness throughout the centre.
  9. Monitor and maintain the safety and welfare of customers and staff, ensuring proper behavior and use of the facilities.

This outline is a guide; flexibility and adaptability are essential to respond to other duties and ongoing developments at Retallack Resort & Spa.

Note: The role requires working on bank holidays and weekends.

Skills, experience, and qualities you’ll need:

Training will be provided, but you must:

  • Hold a current valid NPLQ and First Aid at Work certificate, with experience in backwashing and COSHH.
  • Have a good standard of education, ideally GCSE or equivalent.
  • Work well under pressure and communicate effectively.
  • Pay attention to detail and uphold high standards.
  • Desirable qualifications include Pool Plant Operator (PPO), National Pool Management Qualification (NPMQ), or Fire Warden training.

Our values are centered around a can-do, fun-loving, people-focused ethos. If our mantra of Attentive, Amazing, Lovers resonates with you, explore more about us and see if you feel aligned.
