Job summary

University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a Sport Program Coordinator to lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of sport programs for students. The role includes coordinating competitive, intramural, instructional and drop-in activities while supervising casual staff and managing scheduling.

The incumbent will report to the Supervisor, Sport Programs and work full-time on-site with some evenings and weekends. Term end date is June 25, 2027, with pay scale details available in the posting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Minimum two years experience leading the coordination and delivery of multiple sport programs in a college or university environment.
• Experience supervising casual / student staff and coaches.
• Experience planning and managing sport/recreation events for diverse populations.
• Ability to engage and address equity, diversity, and inclusion issues in sport.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, understanding of social media; experience using sport/recreation databases (Fusion, IMLeagues).
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment.

The Department of Recreation, Athletics & Wellness believes that healthy students are successful students. Reporting to the Supervisor, Sport Programs, the incumbent will assist the Supervisor with the continuum of sport offerings including competitive, intramural, instructional, and drop-in. With a focus on student experience, this position leads the coordination, planning, logistics, delivery, and evaluation of sport programs, as well as the introduction of new sport options. The Sport Program Coordinator will also oversee the training and work of casual/student staff in the unit. The incumbent must be able to work variable shifts depending on the program needs and scheduling, which will include some evenings and weekend hours.

Term End Date: June 25, 2027

Five (5) days on site. Monday to Friday 8:45am-5:00pm

Your responsibilities will include:

Essential Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge and proven expertise in the continuum of sport programs including competitive, intramural, instructional and drop-in.
• Experience supervising casual / student staff and coaches

• Strong understanding of relevant protocols or policies (campus policies, sport rules, relevant legislation)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, understanding of social media. Experience using sport/recreation database (Fusion, IMLeagues, etc)
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skils
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Effective leadership skills to lead teams of student staff
• Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
• Familiarity with social media platforms e.g. Snapchat, Instagram etc.
